TAX DAY!

Well,  doom’s day has finally arrived, better known as tax day.  Tomorrow is the day that most people dread.  It is a day that most Americans become depressed, and downright angry.  Unless you are getting an awesome refund back.  We owe money to the state, but I am not surprised.  Being middle class does not come with a whole lot of benefits in this day and time.  Nevertheless, I am grateful for my family, everyone is healthy.  I also want to let it be known that I am very happy that  Spring is here!  Hopefully to stay.  One never can tell in MN.   I finally made it to the Japanese Gardens, and I took a few photos

We both were in awe of the beauty of nature….  The serenity of the garden was priceless….GREAT DAY!

Lots of errands today.   I accomplished a few things that I almost gave up on.  It feels great to complete some tasks, and I am looking forward to spending more time blogging, and having fun in the sun.  My 3 sons signed up for baseball today!  They are all very excited.

STAY TUNED, MORE TO COME….SEE YOU SOON.  BACK TO WORK EARLY IN THE MORNING.

IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE

hello

IMG01410 SOME PHOTOS FROM THE INFAMOUS VEGAS TRIP.  BOY, DO I WISH I WAS THERE NOW.  ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WAS –22 IN THE TWIN CITIES TODAY.  BURR!

sometime I wonder, what if?

C’est la vie!

We have to get outside and do something fun, and be daring. We are going ice skating- next week.  Finally, the school district decided to give the kids a SNOW DAY!  This morning it was –22, and it warmed up to –12.  And we were relieved, and counted that a good thing.  Too bad I work tomorrow, and we will have to build snowmen, or an igloo.  Pretty ambitious, right.  I KNOW….

I am hoping to set a personal goal to train for a marathon.  I am not sure which one, but I hope to set out to train harder, and run faster.  Now I just have to remember to take everything to the gym.  ORGANIZE my life…… is another one of my personal goals for this year.  I am always looking for something.

F.Y.I.  I have the IPOD NANO, with the NIKE sensor, with the NIKE plus shoes… these things help me keep track of my runs, then you can download them to NIKE’s website.  IT’S AWESOME!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW……

The time has come to reflect on all things.  Reflect on the good things that occurred in 2008.  Don’t dwell on the negative things, or the mistakes that were made.  I am hoping to make many lifestyle changes to make me better, stronger, wiser, and richer * not just financially, but spiritually, and physically.  I hope to accomplish several goals, such as, pay off credit cards, eat healthier, exercise more, laugh, sing, and smile daily.  Overall, I want to be more creative, both in my writing, and complete crafting projects.  I aspire to be more grateful for everything that I have, and be more loving towards myself and others. I am starting the New Year out with a more positive outlook, and hope that you and yours are striving to accomplishing all of the goals that you set forth for 2009.

I also have downloaded a few fitness podcast to my IPOD.  Now if I could get that gym bag organized, and in the car I ‘ll be on my way.  I always feel better when I make it to the gym, and I eat a more balanced meal.

IT’S COLD OUTSIDE

The weather outside is so cold, snow is everywhere.  I long for the lazy days of summer.  I also cannot wait to be wandering and working in the garden.  I guess that when it is cold outside, there are other indoor activities that can keep away the boredom.  I can finally find some time to do some crafts, sew, paint, learn something new, etc…

HERE’S A TOAST TO BETTER HEALTH.

WHERE IS YOUR HOLIDAY SPIRIT?

IMG_0909

A FEW PHOTOS FROM A FEW MANY HOLIDAYS AGO:

The kids have grown up so much! Time really does go by fast.  Another thing that changes as they grow up is the request that they make for the Christmas list.  The price tag gets larger.  I want to look back at the holidays and see things of joy, peace and love…. not remember the chaos, the heartbreaks and the artificialness of what has become of the Christmas holiday.

My one wish is for everyone to have good health, hearts full of love and most of all a warm place to call HOME.

I LOVE ARTS AND CRAFTS!                             I was at Barnes and Noble this past week.  I was searching for a certain book about paper crafts, but after searching painstakingly I was informed that this book was not available at this time.  I have found a replacement!  This book is just what any aspiring mixed media artist needs.  Just in time for Christmas.  I know that I will probably be purchasing this book, even if I don’t win the book give-away contest.  Follow the link below if you want to enter this contest.

BEYONCE!

I don’t think that I am the type of person who is starstruck, but I must give the lady her props—“THAT GIRL IS BAD!”

back to business!

WEARY BLUES…….jingleless times

Winter has arrived?  Christmas time is near…. what is that I hear?  Jingle bells, “tinkerbell”, NO, NO, NO!  what do I see?  houses decked out with their blinking LED lights, giant snow globes and mistletoe,  blinged out Christmas trees, and the glittering and glistening SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!   Hustle and bustle, got to “GO, GO, GO!,”  gifts to wrap, parties to  go to, people to see, busy busy busy people, that’s what’s become of you and me…. I give up! Can not keep up with the Jones’ and I am tired of pretending to be richer, wiser or more hipper that thee.  Let’s go back to the more simple times when spending time with each other was acceptable and received with glee.

Snow is falling again.  It’s cold outside.  That means it is almost Christmas time!   I used to love this time of year, but I have come to dread this time of year.  WHY?  Mostly because it is very stressful.  TIS THE SEASON;  To get caught up in keeping up with who you “wannabe”…  We all are made to feel guilty around this time of year.  But I have to confess that I have been sucked into the drama of this so called season of giving and worried more about how much things I could give, the pricetags, the namebrands, the must-haves, etc.  I hate that Christmas has lost it’s true meaning and been so commercialized.   My kids do not believe in Santa anymore, So don’t believe the hype.  We forget about the most precious gift of all.  God, his gift:  his Son, and Love for all mankind.   Maybe since the countries in a depression, the message of giving will not be lost this time around.  Reach out and let the people most important to you know that they are loved.   IMG_0914

How can we make it through such times, so cold, so bitter, so blue. Times are hard.  Money is scarce.  Bills- they keep coming, piling up so high.  Don’t waste precious tears on things you cannot instantly CHANGE!  Nevertheless, Worry sets in, FEAR is her troublesome friend.   Temporarily, hope, and joy fade away. Clouds of bitterness block out the silver lining…. WIPE THOSE TEARS from your face!  KEEP THE FAITH-  PRAY!  change is going to come!

SMILE!  why?  you are GOD’S Child!  This is my manifesto, I find peace, my strength , my solace, my refuge in you… I know that you will give me direction, share your wisdom, give me inspiration.  I know that I can turn to you in times of trouble, in my weakest hour, during the my darkest times, YOU have always been there for me.

Just Believe, take action, work hard, Breathe!

Even Buddy has faith- that we will open the door…..

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

LIFE IS ART

 LIFE IS ART

Life is something that should never be taken for granted.  Especially when we are healthy, not starving, and have shelter, food, and clothing.  This is one lesson that I have learned through working many years in the medical field.  I am very grateful to be blessed with a happy and healthy family.  I also am trying to live life to the fullest everyday, and never take anything, no matter how big, or small for granted.  I am remembering to count my blessings daily.  As the old saying goes, you never know what might happen to you, or which of your loved ones might be gone tomorrow.

SPEAKING OF A HEALTHY, AND HAPPY FAMILY,

I  AM TRULY BLESSED.  All Kids 013All Kids 050

                                                BE CREATIVE….

I recently visited an ART school, and was able to entertain the notion of indulging in the ARTS as a career.  I have been wanting to partake in SOMETHING MORE CREATIVE… I love taking photographs, writing poetry, and have always wanted to learn how to make something out of nothing, to sculpt something raw into a work of art.  I will be seriously considering pursuing ART school, or other ways to express my creative self.

                                                               BE POETIC…..

A SHORT POEM ABOUT LIFE, ART, LOVE ETC.;

Life is ART.
To love , and being loved is a gift.
SHARE your love, with the world.
Live like you love yourself,
LOVE yourself, and live to love!
LOVE to laugh, laugh to live..
GIVE the gift of love, to everyone.
JUST GIVE LOVE…

                                                              BE ARTISTIC

YOU  are the artist… of your life.
WHAT WILL YOU WRITE,
who will you love?
How will your "life" story unfold?

What would your life be if it was painted,
would your life be a "masterpiece"?
or would it be hidden, mistaken for trash,
buried in pain, disholved by tragedies, mishapened by
things… we call just part of LIFE.  (Sabes que..)
Your LIFE, your story, your legacy,
tell us, what will you leave behind for the world to see?

POETRY IN PHOTOS

I LOVE PHOTOS!

I am always taking photos of everyone and everything.  The kids are always saying that I have too many pictures, and plants around the house.  I am trying to learn PHOTOSHOP, but I am technologically challenge, but I have to keep trying, because practice makes perfection….

anyway… IT’S MY PEROGATIVE… as a mother to capture the memories of our family, as many times, and in as many ways that I know how.  BESIDES,  I always wondered why my parents did not take pictures of me, and sadly I equated that to the amount of love there was in the world for me.  Photos can freeze a moment in time, both in the form of a photo, and can evoke memories when one gazes upon them at a later time.  "  I LOVE PHOTOS"  JUST BECAUSE, I DO.

Seasons come and seasons fade away.
RELAX, REFRESH, Enjoy them while you can.
GOOD, BAD, HAPPY OR SAD, sunshine or rain

It is never to late to SIEZE THE DAY.

Change awaits, come what may.

Great beauty flourishes throughout His plan.
Each day clears away bitterness and pain.

Another Way to Love, through Music!

This video shows Alicia’s versatility.  I love it!  I am glad that she is not afraid to show us just how talented she really is.  I am impressed that she plays the piano so gracefully.  Alicia makes it look so easy.  I wish that I could play the piano.  Maybe, one day I  will take lessons or practice playing again.  Music is awesome.  It brings all types of people together.

DOWN IN THE DELTA

Speaking  of bringing all types of people together, I just recently went down South to visit family.  The South, speaking about MS, has changed !  There are people from all cultures living there, who knew.  Well, I thought that was a good thing, anyhow.  I was glad to see that people from all walks of life, and cultures can live, and prosper together.

Returning home from Mississippi, once again.  I was blessed to spend a few days with family.  I was able to spend my mom’s birthday with her, and my grandmother, and  a few of my aunts.

One of the highlights of the trip was, being able to attend the grand opening of the B. B. King Museum, in Indianola, MS.  IT  WAS AWESOME! There was live music, and  best of all I learned a great deal about how much the South has changed.  What are your thoughts on the subject of changing times?

I am too young to have experienced  segregation in the south, but I have many relatives who can recall  the grave details about how our people were oppressed.  I am trying not to judge people just by first impressions, or the color of their skin, I try to give all people a chance.  Simply because I believe that we are all created equal, and there is good in all people no matter where they come from, and mostly because we are all chiseled from the same stone so to speak, and will all return to the same resting place one day.  None of all the other petty things matter when you step back and look at it that way.  PEACE! LOVE, AND HAPPINESS…. TO ALL!

Back to something good!

MUSIC– is one thing that can bring people together.  I appreciate all types of music, food, cultures.  I also love various languages especially French, Italian, and especialmente, Spanish.

I took Spanish in high school, over 20 years ago, and I still use it, almost everyday.  Well, okay maybe it’s more like “Spanglish”.  I love it!

TE GUSTO MUCHO!

HAIRSTORY

SISTERLOCKED FEB 2005.

Well it is hard to believe that it has been that long since my “hairstory “ began… seems just like yesterday.  Progress, and growth have occurred as well as some tragedies, such as loosing locks, fuzzies, bunching and dreading upkeep, especially when I procrastinate.  Retightening sessions can be tedious, but I just watch a movie, or listen to some great music.    I took the retightening class in June of 2006, and have been maintaining my daughter’s, and my own locks ever since then.

I am happy that I made that decision, because it not only saves me money, it gives me a chance to bond with my teenager.  Boy how time flies.  My mom, aunts and grandmother were are surprised at the length of my hair in just one year.  Nevertheless, I am also looking forward to finding new hairstyles for longer locks, and I continue to looked to my favorite sisterlocked bloggers for inspiration.

BACK TO SCHOOL

I  don’t know if all parents feel the same way that I do, right now, but … back to school is a very hectic time.  I am trying to get the kids organized (I have four school-aged children).   Just, the papers alone, can keep the house in chaos for hours.  We  have managed to contain most of the clutter, but it leaves little or no time to blog, read or even think clearly.  So I decided to try to blog when they are finally in bed for the night.  This parent thing is very challenging, How did our parents do it, there were no gadget such as, gameboys, IPODS, WII’S , or internet.  We have all sorts of techie, geeky things that are supposed to make us more organized.  IS any of your gadgets making life more easier, or what can’t you live without?

LIST OF THINGS I  CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT:

FALL is here again…… IMG00080

I love the changing seasons, especially here in Minnesota.  The leaves are changing color.  IT’S GORGEOUS!  I think that Autumn is my favorite season.  I was able to go to an apple orchard with my son, Josh.  We learned about apples, bees, and how bees work so hard to pollinate the flowers.   Josh, had a great time at the orchard also , He is the cutest beekeeper!

Vacation will be ending soon.  The days seem to go by faster in the summer, especially when it is vacation time.  I am glad that I was able to spend time with my family, and complete a few tasks on the to-do-list.  I was also able to catch up with a few friends on the phone, which is always a good thing.  Never-the-less, the lazy days of summer are not as great as they used to be when we were kids.  I have spent much of the summer being a referee, or a drill sergeant.  The Eby boy’s are famous for saying, "I have nothing to do".  With the help of my daughter, the kitchen was repainted during vacation, it turned out okay.  I will be going back to work on Friday, so my last goal was to update my blog, let’s see how it goes…. I started a few hours ago, but with all of the chaos, I forgot to save.  Que sera, sera!

POETIC MOMENTS BY CHEZ

During vacation, I wanted to start writing again.  I used to write all the time, but find it hard to steal away a few moments to read, write or reflect on life.  I did manage to write a poem, while trying to update my blog.  I am shy, and never share my poetry with anyone.  I think blogging is the best way for me to begin sharing, and practicing writing again.  Wish me luck, it has been a long time.

ROCKING THE TOWN SISTERLOCKS

We don’t get out much, but lately when out shopping several people have commented that they like our hair.  I have been trying to keep up with retightening both my locks, and my daughters’ also.  It has been trying at times, but I have found out the hard way, that if you wait too long, then it will take even longer to finish.  I took the class in Memphis almost 2 years ago, and I find that it is easier for me to keep up my own sisterlocks, because it is more economical and more convenient for me, with my busy schedule.  The weather has been so hot, and humid, and I am grateful that I decided to have sisterlocks

Winter Blues

WINTER BLUES:  Winter seems to linger forever here in Minneapolis.  I call it the "Frozen Tundra".  I am looking forward to the "Spring"
The weather is funny!  We have drastic changes, last weekend it was 20 degrees and we were riding down the street with the windows down…
Only a Minnesotan after a long, dreary winter would consider that to be warm.  Today, it snowed again. BLAH! BLAH! BLAH!Sarcastic

TOO COLD… so I could work on my blog…. Awh the art of procrastination;  I should be doing my homework, but I needed a break.  I have always wanted to start a blog, but could never find the time.  I have been reading other Sisters in locks blogs, and have been encouraged to write my own blog.  I have been encouraged by everyone and I am excited that I actually sat down and started the process.  It was not as hard as I thought it would be.  I think that blogging will be a great outlet for sharing my thoughts, writing poetry and sharing my photos, and hopefully in the process, I can inspire others and have a positive influence in the world.

INSPIRING THOUGHTS
SmileA few things that I am looking forward to:

1.  Long walks in the park with the dogs, WITHOUT WINTER GEAR.
2.  Jogging by the lake.
3.  Outdoors activities, especially gardening.
4.  Spring clothes, hairstyles, accessories.

SPEAKING OF HAIRSTYLES!          B0000564

I have been Sisterlocked since Feb.2005, so I believe it has been 3 years.  I am glad that I made the change.  Never looked back, no regrets.  I am satisfied thus far.  I enjoy the freedom that I have since being "locked".  I also had my daughter’s hair Sisterlocked in September of the same year.  Overall, I believe that she is happy, even though at first, she did not think it was a good idea.  We both have experienced a great amount of growth.  I even took the re-tightening classes in Memphis, to save money, and to have the convenience of re-tightenings on my own schedule.  I am very busy, work full-time, mother of four, wife, student…. How can a girl fit everything into one day?

HAIR-STORY…

I live in the Midwest, and work in a hospital in the Twin Cities.  Lots of people are curious about my hair, and they ask many questions, such as can you wash it, is it real, are those extensions, or a wig?  Most of the feedback has been positive, with a few exceptions of people who are shocked about the expense of Sisterlocks and the amount of time spent on retightening.  Nevertheless,  We love our hair!Wink
